
Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash Closes I-24 in Christian County
A devastating collision between two tractor-trailers occurred Tuesday morning on I-24 in Christian County, resulting in the loss of one life.
According to Captain Payton Rogers of the Hopkinsville Fire Department and EMS, the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. at the 86-mile marker when a
semi-truck overturned while merging onto I-24 westbound.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene and immediately notified the Christian County Coroner’s office. The coroner pronounced the driver, 44-year-old Valeros Sanders of Smyrna, Tennessee, dead at the scene.
Coroner Scott Daniel confirmed the victim’s identity.
The accident has forced the closure of the roadway, which is expected to remain shut down for an extended period to facilitate debris removal and cleanup efforts.
