Fulton State Hospital Assault Turns Deadly, Suspect Charged with Murder
Fulton, MO – A violent altercation between two patients at Fulton State Hospital on January 6, 2025, has resulted in the death of 53-year-old Christos Karagiannis.
According to the Fulton Police Department, Karagiannis succumbed to his injuries on January 8, 2025, after being taken off life support at University Hospital.
Jabril Kanatzar, 29, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Karagiannis’ death. Kanatzar is also facing a charge of fourth-degree assault for allegedly attacking a second victim.
Kanatzar is being held without bond in a secure facility. Authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing danger.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available for public release at this time. As with all cases, the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
