Tragedy struck on January 1 when celebrated photographer John Henebry Jr., 76, was fatally hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Rancho Mirage.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office confirmed Henebry’s identity after the collision, which occurred around 10:00 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive.
Despite efforts by sheriff’s deputies to save his life, Henebry was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver involved in the accident remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
