
Chicago community mourns the loss of television professional Sara Janz
Tragedy has struck the Chicago community with the sudden passing of Sara Janz, a talented and compassionate 29-year-old woman, on January 7, 2025.
Sara, daughter of renowned former ABC-7 traffic/feature reporter Roz Varon and Edward Janz, left an indelible mark on the television industry. She co-founded the Junior Board of the NATAS Chicago/Midwest Chapter, fostering collaboration and innovation among young professionals.
A NATAS Chicago Scholarship recipient, Sara’s professional achievements were a testament to her dedication and excellence. Her kindness, generosity, and mentorship inspired countless individuals, particularly the next generation of television leaders.
Sara is survived by her loving husband, Staff Sergeant Darien Jackson, her parents, and siblings. A memorial service will be held at Oak Park Temple on Tuesday at 11 a.m. The family requests donations to the Sara Janz Memorial Scholarship Fund at Columbia College in lieu of flowers.
Though her life was cut short, Sara’s legacy will continue to inspire and resonate with the Chicago community and beyond.
