Jefferson County Coroner Identifies Victim of Fatal House Fire
A devastating house fire in the 2800 block of Mannen Street claimed the life of 46-year-old Lillliye Marshall early Tuesday morning, according to Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse.
Marshall was rushed to Crossroads Hospital, where she received CPR in the emergency department before being pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
Firefighters responded to the scene, reporting significant flames emanating from the rear of the residence. The situation was quickly escalated to a box alarm status, summoning additional fire departments.
The home suffered extensive fire damage to its rear and considerable smoke damage throughout. Tragically, Marshall’s dog also perished in the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with the State Fire Marshal collaborating with Mt. Vernon Fire investigators to determine the origin of the fatal blaze.
