
Fatal Shooting in Downtown Augusta Marks Second Homicide of 2025
Augusta, GA – A tragic shooting occurred outside the Richmond Summit apartments in downtown Augusta on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Quincy Clay Fields.
According to authorities, deputies responded to reports of gunshots in the 700 block of Broad Street at 3:23 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Fields with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Fields succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by Coroner Mark Bowen.
Victor Prince, 62, a resident of Richmond Summit, has been charged with murder and weapon possession in connection with the crime. Investigators believe that Prince and Fields were familiar with each other, and the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
This incident marks the second confirmed homicide in Richmond County this year, following a previous shooting earlier this month. The authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Fields’ death.
