
Double Homicide in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania
A tragic shooting incident occurred in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, in the early hours of Wednesday, January 8, 2025, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. According to reports, the suspect, identified as 56-year-old Scott Shaffer, is currently in custody and facing criminal homicide charges.
Incident Details
Kittanning police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on Shaffer Lane in Washington Township around 2:40 a.m. Upon investigation, authorities determined that the suspect and the victims, aged 27 and 32, had been at a local bar, Ruby’s Den Burger & Spirits Bar and Grill, prior to the shooting.
Shaffer allegedly invited the victims to his home, where he retrieved a rifle and instructed his 18-year-old daughter to remain in her room. The suspect then shot both victims, and subsequently asked his daughter to hide the weapon. However, she instead contacted 911 to report the incident.
Arrest and Charges
Shaffer was taken into custody and admitted to police that he had shot the victims. He has been charged with criminal homicide and is currently being held at the Armstrong County Jail without bail.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for January 22 at 2 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police Troop D, Kittanning, and Armstrong County Coroner Brian K. Myers confirmed the deaths during the incident.
